The Tomball Police Department just outside of Houston is considering adding body cameras to its officers. The Houston Chronicle reports that the Tomball City Council is considering adding the cameras in the wake of a national conversation on police accountability. Tomball Police Chief Billy Tidwell said studies have found benefits in using the cameras, including “increased transparency of police actions.” Both the Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriffs are in the early stages of implementing department wide body camera policies.
