A former Houston police officer found guilty of official oppression for kicking and beating an unarmed teenager has lost an appeal in a federal court. Drew Ryser, and three other Houston officers were indicted over the 2010 assault on Chad Holley. Holley, who was fifteen at the time, was a suspect in a burglary and was being chased by police. A surveillance video showed the officers knock Holley down with their patrol car and attack him as a group. Ryser attempted to get the verdict overturned. His lawyers stated that he did not mean to hurt Holley but was practicing a rugby move called a “stab step”.
