Legislation introduced in the Texas Senate, Senate Bill 241, recognizes the legality of customers choosing to decline installation of smart electricity reading meters and removing existing smart meters. The bill written by Senator John Carona of Dallas, if passed, would overrule city regulations that make it difficult to remove smart meters or decline their installation. According to supporters of the bill, the last Senator needed for support to have the bill read and considered to become law is Senator Carlos Uresti of San Antonio. Senator Uresti can be reached at (512) 463-0119.
